"The
New Brunswick tax system results in landlords and tenants
paying close to double the property taxes of the other
Atlantic Provinces and the Canadian average."
Axe
The Double Tax - Apartment Renters Tax
The NB government believes
that this is okay because it views this as a tax on
business. At the current level of
taxation, however, the property taxes paid represents
close to 50% of the operating costs of a landlord.
The reality
is that with this amount of taxes it is passed directly
onto the tenants – THE TENANTS PAY THIS TAX – no
other conclusion can be made. (Click
here for Double Tax poster)
The NB government also believes that no one cares about
the excessive taxation on tenants and landlords because
no one is speaking out about it.
Having tenants subsidize single-family homeowners is unfair
and wrong and needs to be changed! The rest of Canada does
not do this and nor should New Brunswick.
An Election
is being called for September 2010 – The
time to speak out is now!
Ask
the candidates that visit you to explain what they will
do to eliminate
this unfair tax.

you think. You can find out who is running in your riding
